Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art is pleased to host Gu Changwei's Contemporary Art Exhibition in mid-December 2014.


Film artist Gu Wei early painting. 78 years into the Beijing Film Academy Department of photography, into the movie industry. His practice and exploration in the field of contemporary art have never been known by the outside world. The "i" Gu Chang Wei Contemporary Art Exhibition, is his long-awaited presentation.
 
The performance of artists in the exhibition includes video, graphic images and installation works. Each piece is closely related to our daily life, but it is reproduced in extraordinary beauty. In the face of these works, we can look back and forth at our own heart and in different ways, revealing the artist's interpretation of the contemporary social values and the thinking of the present material existence.
 
This solo exhibition is not the artist's summary and continuation of the past, but a new beginning with a unique perspective and full of calm thinking and passionate expressions. At that time, we will see a familiar old friend who opens up his wonderful "i" new world to people.


Gu Chang-sheng quoted Du Shang's words as explaining his motive for artistic creation: "Art is not about itself but the attention we bring to it." Art is not about art itself, but about it.




Mr. Kong Changan, curator of this exhibition, participated in the planning and organizing the first Chinese contemporary art exhibition in 1989. He is an important critic of promoting contemporary Chinese art in the world famous art magazine Flash Art in the early 1990's and the first Venice Biennale China curator of the exhibition (Open Exhibition of the 45th Venice Biennale in 1993). In recent years, Mr. Kong Changan in the United States mainly engaged in video art practice and research.


The "i" Gu Chang-wei Contemporary Art Exhibition, organized by the end of MoCA in Shanghai, is a contemporary art exhibition featuring cross-border cooperation between famous film directors and senior curators. The film art is a medium for in-depth dialogues and exchanges and will present a spectacular year-end art scene .
